After diving into the sentimental side of the breaks genre in “Show Me,” the duo takes a dark turn in “FTTB,” creating a carnivorous beast that enjoys a chase. What starts as a simple exploration of darkness, turns into a daring rush of terror, marked by the vocal “escape.” Fast-paced, intricate percussion accompany the rumbling low ends, accentuated by the thumping breaks bassline. Chopped vocals are all that can be mustered during this chase, as the listener looks for anywhere to hide. Controlling heart rates at the 1:15 mark with massive bass hits and electric growls, Zander and Taylor easily trick a few big breaths of relief out of you before dropping the monster on top of you.

The halftime bridge slows the drum kit but keeps the huge, unrelenting low end intact. showing just how dangerous the breaks genre can be, Zander and Taylor brings the percussion back, this time with different snare drum accents. With the low end continuously blasting, echoes of the previous vocals surround the listener as they reach the end of the track. The listener may have escaped the darkness of “FTTB” this time, but it patiently waits for it’s next victim, waiting for the perfect time to pounce on the next next person who presses play on the track.

Zander and Taylor both have such command over the many genres of electronic music, but seem to be enjoying the overarching genre of breaks. “show Me” may have been inspired by the lighter, more emotional side of breaks, but “FTTB” seems to be taken from the darkest pits of the genre; combining the sound elements of unrelenting low ends, distorted electric highs and haunting vocals. Zander and Taylor have created quite a weapon in “FTTB,” one that demands a dark room and massive speakers.
